D3: Control

A very easygoing culture indicates a loose internal structure, a lack of predictability, and little control and discipline; there is a lot of improvisation and surprises. This will both enable thinking outside of the box and it will enable reacting promptly to whatever the request may be

A very strict work discipline suggests the reverse. People are very cost-conscious, punctual and serious. This will enable the creation of a streamlined organisation and meticulous execution of work

While dimension D3 describes the predictability of internal functioning, dimension D2 indicates to what extent functioning in relation to the surroundings (usually the client) is programmed beforehand

Power Distance is a value pattern which will tell us to which degree the less powerful in a society prefer that power is distributed equally compared to other societies. In cultures that score low on power distance, children have been raised by their parents to become relatively autonomous and therefore don’t accept a lot of inequality. In societies in which parents are very protective, children are made more dependent on their parents and later on other persons with authority.
